Tennis Hardworking and fully dedicated is the only way to describe Garfield’s Tennis team. With only their third season ending, the girls of Garfield had a phenomenal year. With Krysten Bucholtz and Marissa Onchek as our captains, this school saw it’s first winning season ever, and won best showing at sectionals. Jordyn Discenzo also took many leading victories this year and became a huge asset to the team. According to the coach Mr. Grant “The most intense game was against Olmstead Falls. We won with a 3-2 score and it was a dramatic victory.” While the girls were playing with all they’ve got, the boys tennis team was working hard too. Paul Kiraly won best record at number one singles and had an outstanding record of 10 wins. With new players such as John Toth, Mark Dawson and Colin Krushinski participating this year, the stress was on but they stayed strong and stuck it out. Krysten Bucholtz and Rachel Butvin were the only two girls to play on the boys team this season and they did an amazing job. Rachel played both singles and doubles while Krysten had several victories at second singles.
